Why She Was Chosen

Lesa is an Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD Nurse and is the school nurse at Comanche Springs Elementary. She has been a school nurse for five years. As a school nurse she manages complicated health issues. Lesa always has welcoming smile that comforts the many students she sees in a day. She partners with the teachers and staff at Comanche Springs to ensure students are healthy and ready to learn. Before joining Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD, she worked as a nurse in telemetry, PCU, endoscopy, and home health. She is a certified Medical-Surgical nurse as well as board certified in Gerontological Nursing. She graduated from TWU with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and later went on to get a master’s in nursing informatics from WGU. She decided to try school nursing after she had children of her own and found that it is a career was one that she enjoys. She has goal to becoming a certified school nurse.

What is Health Hero of the Month?

Health Hero of the month is a joint effort between SaferCare Texas and Cook Children’s. Through this initiative, we intend to highlight and celebrate the efforts of dedicated school staff who are improving student health.
