Congratulations to our Health Hero of August!

Rachael Rivera

Why She Was Chosen

This month we are excited to feature Mrs. Rachael Rivera for her outstanding work with students who have used asthma medication in school-based clinics in the district.  Mrs. Rivera is an Army veteran and Family Nurse Practitioner who enjoys working part time for Northwest ISD. She helped both young and older students understand more about the asthma disease process and treatments by bringing them information in one-to-one and small group settings. She also contributed to a broader interpretation of the original project that has evolved into a second grant application through Asthma 411.

What is Health Hero of the Month?

Health Hero of the month is a joint effort between SaferCare Texas and Cook Children’s. Through this initiative, we intend to highlight and celebrate the efforts of dedicated school staff who are improving student health.
